We at Armenco understand the financial concerns of our customers and realize that purchasing a catering truck or trailer can be a significant investment for most people.  We would like to provide everyone with the opportunity to establish financial freedom which comes with owning one's own business.  To help keep costs down for you, we offer an option which can often help save over *$20,000.00 off the price of a step-van and catering kitchen when compared to the purchase price of a 2005 model chassis.

Catering truck bodies and chasses have changed very little over the last few decades and it is almost impossible to tell the difference between a 1995 model and a 2005 one.  Also, the vehicles are manufactured to provide years of trouble-free operation with only routine maintenance required.

As such, we provide our customers with the option of having a brand new catering kitchen manufactured onto a used body.  The kitchen equipment, specifications, workmanship and warranty are identical to kitchens manufactured onto 2005 bodies.  The primary difference is that while a 2006 step-van is currently priced at approximately $39,645.00, a suitable used step-van in good condition can be found for an average price of *$15,000.00 *(Note: estimation based on current market values; actual pricing/savings will vary).  The used step-van would not have to be an existing catering truck and could be empty, a former delivery truck or used for almost any other purpose.  Even if the used body was formerly a catering truck, none of the old or existing kitchen, related parts or accessories would be used.  Essentially everything would be brand new as far as the kitchen is concerned and the only used parts incorporated would be automotive components, such as the engine, transmission, etc. and parts of the shell or body.

If interested in this option, please call us and we'll help you locate a used step-van.  If you opt to locate one yourself, please keep in mind that certain specifications MUST be met for the step-van to be used for such a purpose, as listed below. 

Mandatory Specifications of Used Step-Vans for Conversion Into Mobile Kitchen

	16' Cargo Area:  For standard catering kitchens, the step-van must have a  16' cargo area (this is measured from behind the driver's seat to the doors or wall at the end of the vehicle).  For bumper to bumper measurements, add approximately seven feet, making it 23'.  Use the same calculation for motion picture trucks (18', 20', 22', etc. reflecting cargo area and adding 7-8 feet for bumper to bumper).
	14,100 GVW:  The vehicle must be rated at a minimum 14,100 GVWR (gross vehicle weight capacity, or the number of pounds the vehicle is capable of sustaining).
	Dual Rear Tires:  Once the vehicle is completed and a kitchen installed, the gross weight will be such that it will be nearly impossible to jack the vehicle in the event of a flat.  Dual tires ensure that the vehicle remains supported even if one of the tires on either side becomes inoperable due to a road hazard or other cause of a flat.
	Aluminum Body:  To ensure the highest quality workmanship and longevity of the truck, we work strictly with aluminum body vehicles.
	Suitable General Condition: You should ensure that the automotive components are in good working condition; for example the engine, transmission, power steering, etc. should all be operable and not in need of serious repair.  Otherwise, you must consider the added expense of applicable repairs.  We do not perform automotive repair and urge you to seek the advice of a knowledgeable mechanic familiar with such engines and transmissions before making a purchase.   You should also make sure that the body is free of rust or corrosion and that the frame has not been damaged in an accident.  Steer clear of salvage title vehicles!   Lastly, make sure the vehicle is up to your local emission code and can be registered properly.
